Michael Stych is an award-winning building services engineer, project leader and director. He has more than thirty years’ experience in design, analysis, construction, and operations.
Michael’s projects include complex refurbishments, commercial offices, arts and culture buildings, and central energy plant facilities, as well as specialist education, clinical and laboratory buildings. Michael is committed to an integrated approach to building design, and is particularly experienced in the design of innovative, low-energy buildings that are responsive to the needs of users, both for individual assets and portfolio wide, working closely with clients, architects, contractors, facilities managers, and operational teams to fully realise early-stage ambitions.
Michael leads Arup’s Smart Building Business and is a industry advocate and champion for digital connectivity in buildings to realise better experiences and transform their performance. He has lead Arup’s digital transformation for its building engineering practice in the UK, including the firm wide adoption of BIM and smart buildings technologies, and introducing new digital skills into the built environment domain.
